Bus shelter

It was interesting to read in this article that the Unst bus shelter has been turned into a cinema.

Unst bus shelterThe bus shelter is on Unst, Shetland’s most northerly island, and is something of an institution.

It changes theme every so often, and when Nicole and I visited in June it was experiencing a glowing pink phase.

The deputy director of the “bus shelter folk” gave us a full guided tour of the premises, which can be found north of Baltasound and right next to the John Peel Memorial Roundabout.

Yes, Unst is that kind of place.

As part of a Shetland-wide film festival, the bus shelter has become a cinema, and according to the article film buff Mark Kermode has paid a visit.

It’s well worth a visit if you’re ever in the area. Though who knows what it’ll have turned into – perhaps a space station or fish task or something.
