| The Fiver Project |
One day I noticed someone's name written on a Royal Bank of Scotland £5 note in my wallet - Sheila Sergenson. I never managed to track her down or find out how her name ended up on a note, but it got me thinking. How far does money travel, and is it possible to trace the journey?
So I have pledged to myself that I will sign, photograph and publish online every £5 note that comes into my posession before spending it again, in the hope that someone will notice my name written on one of them and attempt to find me on the internet.
Below are the notes so far that I have "released" back into circulation. If you've received one, please email me on thefiverproject@simonvarwell.co.uk, preferably with some proof, such as a photo of you holding the note, telling me where you got it. And then if you're really keen, sign it yourself and release it again as part of your own fiver project...
To read how the project began, and to find out the very latest news, read the Fiver Project posts in my blog. Oh, and do drop a line if you're Sheila Sergenson - I couldn't have done this without you!
